Show Notes

John and Matt have a timely and important conversation with Jon Jackson, Deputy Director of Athletics/Men’s Basketball & External Affairs at Duke. With the news of Coach K’s upcoming retirement, Jon, Coach K’s right-hand man, is able to offer insight into Duke’s future. As the last season of Coach K’s historic run approaches, Jon discusses Coach’s farewell tour in the current media landscape. Duke’s immense social media following of 4 million people provides unique challenges and opportunities with Duke being viewed not as a University but a franchise. Working at Duke for 20 years, there is no better person than Jon to relay how Duke’s brand evolves with the times. Jon shares his viewpoints on Name, Image, and Likeness legislation and how it is affecting his student-athletes. Along with Jon, we are excited to see Coach Shire’s transition into the large shoes of Coach K.
